OUR STORY

We have been operating a small air conditioning and refrigeration business, JGELS for the last 3 years.

However, the recent COVID-19 pandemic has unfortunately brought the entire world to its knees. The impact is all round from survival to near zero economic activities. Many local MSME and SME’s have been hit especially hard by the pandemic, very possibly including your company.

I didn’t think much of it in the early stage when it all began in March, I figured that business is going to become vulnerable; But, also presumed it’s just a pause and we would bounce back. Little did I know business would drastically change, enough for my small business to virtually shut shop!

After 3 years of operation and still within the start up phase of our business, we were stuck with an exceedingly difficult decision to make.

It was even tougher to break up the team!

Alternatively, we  encourage them to invest in other means to sustain themselves such as agriculture.

In the recent months, I often asked myself, “How many other entrepreneurs are in the same boat?”

Many are faced with the painful decision of letting go of their ventures for reasons beyond their control. On the contrary, for the ones who are coming to terms of being labeled “ A Failed Business”, we choose to ask not “Why” but “What next”!

In spite of challenges, we accept that changes introduced during the COVID 19 pandemic are going to be long term. We are determined to pick up and move forward by thinking afresh and starting from scratch. We have made decision this is a time to survive and not to scale and to build relevant solutions as time will pass.
